What this solves
Mt Fuji is 3,776 m and only climbable in summer (early July to early September). The 4 trails are Yoshida (most popular), Subashiri, Gotemba (gentlest), and Fujinomiya (shortest). Bullet train + bus reach the 5th Station (about 2,300 m) in ~3-4 hours from Tokyo. Above 3,000 m you risk altitude sickness; go slowly.
Plan
How to read results
- Trail distance: Yoshida 7.7 km (5th→8th station); Gotemba 11 km (5th→8th, longest).
- Bullet train: Tokyo to Mishima (Shinkansen, 1h 5m), then bus 1h 30m to Yoshida 5th Station.
- Yamato: add ¥1,000 mountain-climbing fee (¥1,000 in 2024+).
- Sunrise weather: clouds form in afternoon; best 04:00–06:00.
- Altitude sickness: above 2,500 m. Symptoms: headache, nausea, dizziness. Aspirin helps; descend if severe.
Limitations
Reference for 2026. Off-season climb is illegal; gates close Sept 10. Trails can be crowded in late July/Augustito. Always check weather forecast.
