What this solves
Google Maps handles Tokyo metro fine, but doesn't surface: (a) Tokyo Metro & Toei transfer fare calculation logic (the IC card inside the gate automatically selects the cheaper of through-metro-to-meritair or per-operator fare; a paper ticket doesn't); (b) women-only car hours per line; (c) that the Yamanote Line has NO women-only car but Marunouchi Line has cars 1 and 6 during 09:30–16:00; (d) JR lines (Yamanote, Chuo Rapid) have a separate fare chart. This tool distinguishes them.

How to read results
- IC vs Paper: IC cards automatically apply the transfer discount (lower of through-route vs. per-operator). Paper tickets may charge the higher of two — buy IC.
- Last train: Tokyo Metro weekdays: most lines last train from central Tokyo ~00:30, departing outer terminals ~23:45. Friday/Saturday nights: last train +30 min on Hibiya, Ginza, Marunouchi, Tozai.
- Women-only car hours: typically 07:30–09:30 morning and 17:30–19:30 evening (varies by line). Men riding during those hours will be asked to leave.
- 24-hour pass: ¥600 (Tokyo Metro) covers 13 lines; ¥900 Toei covers 4 subway lines. Combo ¥1,200 is good for 4+ rides/day.
Limitations
Fare estimates use 2026 reference prices. Tokyo Metro uses 1-km-fare increments (¥180 to ¥320 for IC; ¥200 to ¥340 for paper). Toei subway uses its own table. JR East follows JR's 1-km table starting at ¥150 (IC). Actual fares between adjacent stations can be ¥1–20 different. Always tap in/out with the same IC card.
FAQ
Can I use one IC card across Tokyo Metro and JR?
Yes, Suica/Pasmo/ICOCA all interoperate with JR East. You can ride the Yamanote Line, transfer at Shinjuku to Marunouchi Line, all on one tap.
Does the IC card work on bullet trains?
No. Shinkansen tickets are bought separately (or with Smart EX online reservation). Suica does not cover shinkansen. Don't tap on the shinkansen gate.
What about children?
IC card children (age 6-11) pay half; under-6 free. ¥500 deposit on a new Suica/Pasmo. Suica 1-day child pass available at counters.
